Who is Arielle V. King?
Arielle V. King is an educator and strategist working at the crossroads of environmental justice, climate hope, and culture.
She is the Assistant Director at the Racial Justice Center at the New York Civil Liberties Union.
As a consultant and lecturer, Arielle shares her know-how on environmental justice, media, and social justice topics all over the United States.
Many Roles for Sustainability
King wears many hats for sustainability. She hosts “The Joy Report” podcast about positive climate solutions from different viewpoints. Arielle has advocated for over half her life for environmental and social issues.
She also advises fashion brands on being more eco-friendly and ethical. Arielle has long experience planning events too. Recently, she oversaw a pavilion focused on entertainment and culture at the big COP28 climate summit in Dubai.
Studying Environmental Issues From Early On
King has cared about the environment since her college days. She got a degree focused on how politics and the environment connect.
Her thesis was about the water crisis in Flint, Michigan – exploring environmental racism, law, and how communities cope with neglect.
This inspired her to get a master’s in environmental law and policy, and a law degree in civil rights and environmental justice by age 23.

King is also deeply involved in nurturing the next generation of diverse environmental leaders. She serves on the boards of groups like Positive Tracks and the Green Leadership Trust.
This trust recently selected her for a 6-month program to mentor upcoming leaders of color in conservation and the environment.

Top institutions also seek King’s insights. She serves on an expert group on explaining climate change and health at the National Academy of Medicine.
