Flowing with Blessings Inc. collaborates with Georgia Tech industrial design students to launch an innovative mobile laundry service for Atlanta’s homeless population. The project transforms a school bus into a mobile laundromat.
Innovative Mobile Solution Addresses Critical Need
The Mobile Laundry Bus allows homeless individuals to wash cherished clothing items while maintaining dignity. This service complements the organization’s existing shower facilities.
Georgia Tech students designed the bus with large water tanks for locations without clean water access. The layout maximizes efficiency for workers and clients.
Georgia Tech Students Drive Design Innovation
Five industrial design students developed the project during their Summer Studio course. Under Professor Steve Chininis’s guidance, they handled everything from concept sketches to 3D modeling.
“It was exciting to have our students work on this amazing project,” says Chininis. “They were instantly engaged because they were working with an amazing client who was helping real people.”
Significant Community Impact and Future Vision
Since its founding in February 2022, Flowing with Blessings has served over 4,500 individuals. The organization helps approximately 60 people during each operation day.
Despite resource challenges, Crawford remains committed to helping homeless individuals rebuild their lives. The mobile laundry service represents another step toward restoring dignity and hope.
