Stacia Mac, mother of rapper Polo G and founder of The Mac Effect Nonprofit, hosted the EmpowerHer Tennis Classic in Chicago on August 25th. This innovative event combined business networking with trendy tenniscore fashion, creating a unique platform to support and empower Black women.
Tenniscore Meets Business Networking
The EmpowerHer Tennis Classic brought a fresh approach to traditional networking events. Attendees traded stuffy boardrooms for tennis courts, donning stylish athleisure wear while connecting with fellow entrepreneurs and professionals.
Mac explained the concept, saying, “I wanted something more personable and engaging. Tennis is also a nod to the incredible Black women like Venus and Serena Williams and, more recently, Coco Gauff, who have dominated the sport.”
Empowering Black Women Through Community
The event aligns with Mac’s broader mission to uplift and support Black women. Through her Mac Effect Nonprofit and EmpowerHer initiative, she addresses systemic challenges facing the community.
“Even the strongest among us need a community that uplifts and supports us,” Mac emphasized. EmpowerHer offers comprehensive support, including bail bond projects, entrepreneurship workshops, financial assistance, and mental health care.
Fashion Meets Function on the Court
Tenniscore style took center stage at the event. Mac herself set the tone, expertly blending high-end and affordable pieces. Her outfit featured a white tennis one-piece from FashionNova, paired with a black Alo visor, Chanel sneakers, and a Chanel tennis racket.
The fashion choices reflected the event’s unique blend of sports, style, and networking. Attendees embraced the opportunity to showcase their personal style while engaging in business discussions.
Overcoming Challenges and Staying True to Her Mission
Mac recently faced public scrutiny due to a family incident. However, she remains focused on her mission to empower others. “My brand isn’t defined by my family life; it’s defined by the positive impact I’ve made in business and in the lives of others,” she stated.
This commitment to her cause is evident in initiatives like the Mac Care program. It provides mental health support to individuals and families, addressing a crucial need in the community.
Building a Supportive Network for Black Women
The EmpowerHer Tennis Classic represents more than just a networking event. It’s a testament to Mac’s vision of creating spaces where Black women can thrive professionally and personally.
By partnering with fellow business owners and philanthropists Ronneshia Foots and Dr. Princess Lomax, Mac ensured the event would be impactful. The collaboration demonstrates the power of women supporting women in business and community initiatives.
