Vice President Kamala Harris proudly announced a groundbreaking $16 billion investment in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by the Biden-Harris Administration.
This record-breaking funding eclipses the previously allocated $7 billion and demonstrates an unprecedented commitment to supporting these esteemed institutions.

“As a proud graduate of Howard University, I know firsthand that our HBCUs are centers of academic excellence,” shared Harris. “For generations, these anchors of our communities have played a pivotal role in building and contributing to America’s leadership at home and abroad.”

From producing 40% of Black engineers and 50% of Black teachers to nurturing 70% of Black doctors and dentists, HBCUs are engines of opportunity and upward mobility.

The $16 billion investment comprises $11.4 billion from 2021 to 2023, stemming from federal grants, contracting awards, and debt relief.
