Taraji P. Henson Returns as Host for BET Awards 2024
BET has announced that acclaimed actress Taraji P. Henson will once again host the 2024 BET Awards, set to take place live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30. This will mark Henson’s third time hosting the prestigious event, showcasing her vibrant personality and charisma.
“Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host Culture’s Biggest Night, ‘BET Awards,’ the ultimate celebration of Black creativity,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET.
Henson expressed her enthusiasm for the honor, stating, “I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the ‘BET Awards’ for the third time. I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”
Honoring the Iconic Usher with Lifetime Achievement Award
In addition to Henson’s hosting duties, the 2024 BET Awards will also honor the legendary Usher with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement BET Award. The Grammy award-winning global entertainment icon will be recognized for his lasting impact and contributions to the music industry.
“We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night,” Orlando added, referring to the previously announced performers, including GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét.
Drake Leads the Nominations
The nominations for the 2024 BET Awards have been announced, with Drake leading the pack with an impressive seven nods. The official nominees were selected by a voting academy of esteemed music industry insiders, performers, and presenters.
Voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award will be open to the public from June 6 to June 30, 2024, allowing fans to have a say in the outcome.
The 2024 BET Awards will air live on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET, promising to be a night of celebration, recognition, and the ultimate showcase of Black creativity and talent.
