Win With Black Women, a powerful grassroots movement, has made headlines again. The group raised $2.5 million for Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. This puts them well on their way to meeting their $4.7 million goal.
Black Women’s Political Power Shines
Win With Black Women is showing the strength of Black women in politics. They’ve raised over half their target in a short time. This money will support Harris’s bid to become the next U.S. President.
The group held a big Zoom meeting on July 28. Thousands joined, including top Black women leaders and many Congresswomen. They talked about plans for the Democratic National Convention and how to organize in different states.
Grassroots Fundraising Success
The Brown Girls Fundraising Collective, part of Win With Black Women, raised $2.4 million. This came after a huge Zoom call on July 21. That call brought together over 40,000 Black women and raised $1 million in just three hours.
Jotaka Eaddy, who started Win With Black Women, said, “Our democracy is at stake. We’re standing behind Vice President Harris so she can become the next President. When we unite, we can move mountains.”
Building Momentum for Harris
Win With Black Women is doing more than raising money. They’re building excitement for Harris’s campaign. On July 26, they released Harris’s first campaign ad, called “We Choose Freedom.”
Harris has been out meeting voters too. She’s gone to several Black sorority conventions. This, plus Win With Black Women’s work, is helping reach more Black women voters.
The Power of Black Women Voters
Eaddy told CNN about the impact of Black women voters. “When we vote, we don’t just take ourselves. We bring our households, communities, churches, sororities, and community groups. We bring our brothers and sons too.”
Win With Black Women has started a text message program. This will keep people informed about the campaign and how they can help. Anyone can join online to get involved and stay updated.
