Tina Knowles Announces “Intimate and Revealing” Memoir
Tina Knowles, the mother of music superstar Beyoncé, has announced the upcoming release of her memoir “Matriarch.”
The book, set to hit shelves on April 22, 2025, promises an “intimate and revealing” look into Knowles’ life journey from her childhood in Galveston, Texas to becoming a renowned businesswoman, fashion designer, and philanthropist.
From Galveston to Global Influence
The memoir will chronicle Knowles’ early years, growing up as the youngest of seven siblings surrounded by the sounds of Motown and the nearby beach.
As she navigated the realities of race and the limitations of girlhood, Knowles began to dream of the world beyond her hometown. Her “instincts and impulsive nature” would ultimately drive her to discover a life beyond her childhood.
Guiding Destiny’s Child to Superstardom
Knowles’ memoir will also delve into her rise as a successful business owner, opening the groundbreaking hair salon Headliners in 1986.
Readers will learn about her pivotal role in guiding her daughter Beyoncé, along with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, as the girl group Destiny’s Child achieved global commercial success.
Passing Down Generational Wisdom
A central theme of the book is the “wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generation.”
Knowles, now 70 years old, hopes to share the valuable lessons she has learned throughout her life, including revelations she wishes she had at a younger age. The memoir aims to celebrate themes of strength, motherhood, Black pride, and identity.
Celebrating the Matriarch
Tina Knowles expressed her excitement about sharing her story, stating, “I have always been a storyteller, and it’s something I learned from my mother.
When I had a family of my own, I believed that my daughters needed to know where they came from in order to know where they were going.”
The book’s title, “Matriarch,” reflects Knowles’ desire to explore the role of the matriarch and the profound impact women can have on each other and future generations.
