The Black Girls Rock! Awards is making a celebrated comeback to television this year on Lifetime, following a 5-year hiatus since last airing on BET.
Star-Studded Awards Show Moves to Lifetime, Tapes Live from Atlanta
The inspirational awards show will be recorded live in Atlanta on June 27th, before airing nationwide on Lifetime this fall. The Fox Theatre will host the televised ceremony as the epicenter of a “Black Girls Rock! Experience” across the city.
Previous honorees like Angela Bassett, Regina King, Ciara and H.E.R. have celebrated the extraordinary achievements of Black women trailblazers from entertainment, business, activism and more.
Founded by Beverly Bond, Black Girls Rock! spotlights “the outstanding contributions” of both icons and rising stars.
Festival Events to Spotlight Black Culture & Community
In addition to the awards telecast, Atlanta will also host associated events under the Black Girls Rock! banner:
- BGR! Expo
- BGR! Film Festival
- Black Cloud Tech Summit
- BGFEST Concert Series
This extensive lineup cements Atlanta’s reputation as an undisputed cultural hub, while upholding the brand’s central mission of empowerment.
BGR! founder Beverly Bond hailed Atlanta as an ideal backdrop for the festivities. The city’s vibrant heritage complements the event’s focus on community, culture and equity.
Atlanta Partnership Kicks Off Long-Term Legacy
Bond partnered with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens to bring Black Girls Rock! to the city in a multi-year agreement. Mayor Dickens praised Atlanta as “the city that influences everything” — a fitting platform for BGR’s global reach.
The collaboration signals the launch of an enduring legacy between BGR! and Atlanta. By spotlighting achievements and amplifying inspiring voices, the event offers a source of motivation for young Black women everywhere.
After 5 years off the air, the re-imagined Black Girls Rock! Awards are set to make a fresh, powerful statement on Lifetime this fall.
