Ceremony Set for August 1 With Chuck D, LL Cool J, and Chris Rock
Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes will officially receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 1, 2025. The award recognizes more than three decades of cultural impact, musical brilliance, and electrifying performances.
The 2,818th star will be placed at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, right in front of East Town. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. PT, with Chuck D, LL Cool J, and Chris Rock lined up as special guest speakers. Big Boy, a popular radio host and fellow Walk of Fame honoree, will emcee the event.
Hollywood Celebrates a Hip-Hop Icon
Busta Rhymes is being honored in the Recording category — a fitting tribute for a man whose voice and energy helped define hip-hop. In a statement, Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce praised Busta as “one of hip-hop’s most enduring and electrifying voices.”
“His talent and influence are undeniable,” she said. “His star on the Walk of Fame will stand as a testament to his lasting impact on hip-hop music and how important it is to American culture.”
From Leaders of the New School to Global Solo Success
Busta Rhymes first broke out in the early ’90s as part of Leaders of the New School. Their debut single, Case of the P.T.A., quickly grabbed attention, followed by Sobb Story and their album A Future Without a Past…
After tensions within the group, Busta launched a solo career in 1996 with The Coming. His unique voice, fast-paced delivery, and unmatched charisma made him a standout — not just in rap, but across music as a whole.
Over 20 Million Records Sold and 12 Grammy Nominations
Busta Rhymes has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. His hit tracks and music videos have left an undeniable mark on the culture. He’s been nominated for 12 GRAMMY Awards, proving his influence extends far beyond the streets and into mainstream music.
In recent years, the accolades haven’t slowed. He received the BET Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, followed by the Global Icon Award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Recognized by the White House and Academia
This year alone, Busta Rhymes has earned recognition far outside the studio. In January, the White House honored him with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award — a rare honor for a recording artist.
Soon after, Harvest Christian University in Dallas awarded him a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership for Creative Enterprises. It’s an academic nod to a career built on creativity, resilience, and transformation.
