New York City, NY – Actress and philanthropist La La Anthony is making a meaningful impact on the lives of young incarcerated men through her non-profit organization, the La La Land Foundation.
Her program, ThreeSixty, is providing life-changing opportunities to those who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law.
Helping Young Men Reintegrate into Society
One remarkable success story has emerged from Anthony’s tireless efforts. According to an interview with People magazine, a young man who was formerly incarcerated at Rikers Island received a full scholarship to attend Columbia University – just over a year after being released from prison.
“It’s really amazing to see that when you take them out of jail and put them in the right environment, with the right opportunities and love and support, incredible things can happen,” Anthony shared.
The ThreeSixty program offers a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, providing legal services, resume-building workshops, job training, and mental health resources to help the young men successfully reintegrate into society.
Addressing the Challenges Faced by Incarcerated Youth
Anthony’s passion for this cause stems from her understanding of the unique challenges faced by young, incarcerated Black men. “At this age, they are still so young,” she explained.
“When you talk to them, especially if you have your own kids, you just become so much more compassionate. It feels like any one of our kids could be one bad decision away from being in a similar situation.”
Fostering a Supportive Environment for Positive Change
The ThreeSixty program goes beyond traditional rehabilitation efforts, focusing on creating a nurturing environment where the young men can thrive.
In addition to legal services and job training, the program offers enrichment activities like acting classes, mental health support, and regular check-ins to ensure a smooth transition post-release.
Partnering for Greater Impact
To amplify the program’s reach and effectiveness, ThreeSixty has partnered with the Reform Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming probation and parole systems.
Together, they provide job fairs and employment opportunities to help the young men secure sustainable careers.
“We want them to be prepared with certain skills so they can really get out there and back into life and into the workforce after release,” Anthony emphasized.
Driving Positive Change, One Life at a Time
La La Anthony’s unwavering commitment to this cause is truly inspiring. By providing young, incarcerated Black men with the tools and support they need to succeed, she is not only changing individual lives but also working to address the systemic challenges that disproportionately impact this community.
“If they did something wrong and they’re paying for their crime, let’s give them real rehabilitation while they’re there so they can come out and be better citizens,” Anthony said. “We want them to come out and do better, and be better.”
