Health and fitness entrepreneur Leticia Gardner has redefined the meaning of perseverance. The Jersey City native turned her challenging start into a remarkable success story.
From Survival Mode to Entrepreneurial Success
At age 19, Gardner left home with just $323 and a trash bag full of clothes. “I was in survival mode being a single mom when I met my husband,” she revealed during the Mompreneurs podcast.
The determined mother worked as a bartender and waitress in Atlanta. “I was hustling every which way I could,” Gardner shared with host Nancy Redd.
Building a Health and Fitness Empire
Together with her husband, former NFL player Rod Gardner, she now runs multiple successful ventures. Their businesses include a functional medicine clinic and various fitness programs.
“We believe in being healthy — mind, body, and soul,” Gardner emphasized. Her authentic approach to sharing their active lifestyle has built a devoted online following.
Balancing Motherhood and Business Success
Gardner values the freedom entrepreneurship provides for family time. “Being a mom is one of my favorite jobs in the world,” she stated confidently.
“Being present is the most important thing for me,” she explained. “Kids remember you being there more than the stuff that you can buy them.”
Inspiring Future Entrepreneurs
Gardner’s advice for aspiring business owners focuses on mindset. “You have to release the spirit of fear,” she emphasized during her interview.
Her persistence remains unwavering throughout her journey. “I don’t believe in giving up. I fall down all the time, but I’m going to get back up every single time.”
