The victory marks a return to the seat she previously held from 2019 to 2022 before being forced to run in a different district due to Republican-led redistricting.
McBath’s Triumphant Return to the 6th District
McBath’s reelection comes after a fierce campaign against Republican challenger Jeff Criswell. The Associated Press declared her the winner at 8:18 p.m. EST on Election Day. The 6th District covers areas of metro Atlanta’s northern suburbs, including Forsyth, Dawson, and portions of Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Cherokee counties.
McBath’s victory is particularly notable given the Republican efforts to target her in 2023 with a proposal for a court-ordered new Black majority district, which threatened to eliminate her seat altogether. However, the Congresswoman prevailed in a primary against a Democratic incumbent the following year, paving the way for her return to the 6th District.

The Congresswoman, a breast cancer survivor, has staunchly opposed Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, a vital healthcare provider for many in her district.
Additionally, McBath’s dedication to gun safety measures stems from a personal tragedy. After her son was fatally shot in 2012, the Congresswoman has become one of Congress’ foremost voices for stricter gun regulations, sponsoring legislation such as universal background checks and red flag laws.
