Richard and Denise Marie Snow are transforming STEAM education through their partnership with Brooklyn Robot Foundry (BRF). This dynamic duo brings robotics education to underserved Philadelphia neighborhoods, creating new opportunities for young minds.
Pioneering STEAM Education in Underserved Communities
The Snows strategically chose Philadelphia as their first Foundry location, focusing on neighborhoods often overlooked by educational programs. Their unique approach allows children to keep every robot they build, setting them apart from competitors.
“It has taken some time to differentiate ourselves from the competition,” explains Denise Snow. Yet their persistence has paid off through strong community partnerships.
Their program emphasizes hands-on learning, combining science, technology, engineering, art, and math with social development skills.
Diversity Leadership Meets Educational Innovation
Richard Snow brings substantial experience as the Diversity Institute Chair at the International Franchise Association. He co-hosts the Smart Start Now Podcast with Denise.
The couple discovered BRF aligned perfectly with their vision for children’s enrichment education. They saw potential in the youth enrichment market’s growing demand.
BRF’s CEO Jenny Young impressed them with her genuine dedication to franchisee support and children’s development. This culture of nurturing growth sealed their decision.
Expanding Opportunities Through Franchise Innovation
The Snows currently manage 32 zip codes across two Philadelphia territories. They plan to expand into South Jersey by 2025-2026.
Through the Frandowment competition, BRF creates pathways for minority entrepreneurs to become franchisees. This initiative offers ownership opportunities through sweat equity.
“Pick a franchise that radiates with purpose,” Richard advises aspiring Black entrepreneurs. “The hard work doesn’t feel like a chore when you pick your passion!”
