Princess Love Makes History as First Black Woman to Win Celebrity Poker Tour
During Black History Month, reality TV star Princess Love has made history as the first Black woman to win the Celebrity Poker Tour Invitational II in Las Vegas.
Triumphant Victory at Invite-Only Event
On February 8th, Love walked away with the $20,000 grand prize at the exclusive 73-entrant tournament held at the PokerGo Studio. She bested a field of public figures, including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, influencer Tana Mongeau, and Atlanta Falcons fullback Keith Smith.
“Congrats to Princess Love for winning the Celebrity Poker Tournament ♣️😍. The 1st black woman in history to do so!! Give her her TENS 💐👏🏾,” one fan celebrated on social media.
From Casual Player to History-Maker
Love’s whirlwind poker success began just a year ago when a cousin first taught her the game. Though new to the high-stakes world of professional poker, she dedicated herself to steadily improving her skills.
“Originally I just asked one of my cousins to teach me. I always wanted to learn how to play poker and chess. And I’m not a gambler by any means, but once I was introduced to it, I don’t know, I was intrigued,” Love explained.
“I just did a bunch of the dailies and the Wynn tournaments to kind of prepare for the big ones. I’ve never done it – [this is] my first $10K event. I kind of just been like doing the smaller tournaments to get my feet wet, get comfortable. And [this run] means a lot, because I’m playing well. I’m not a pro, but I study a lot.”
Surging Poker Career
Love’s historic Celebrity Tour victory caps off an impressive run over the past few months. In December, she placed 40th at the prestigious WPT World Championship, adding $132,500 to her live tournament earnings over $270,000.
With newfound confidence from her wins, the married mother of two aims to continue growing her blossoming poker career.
Blazing a Trail for Representation
Beyond the prize money, Love’s Celebrity Tour triumph represents a significant milestone for diversity in poker. Her success proves Black women’s growing prominence in a game still dominated by White men.
“Congrats to Princess Love for winning the Celebrity Poker Tournament. The 1st black woman in history to do so,” one commenter noted, underscoring her trailblazing accomplishment.
