Billionaire Mogul Clarifies Retirement Rumors
Rihanna has finally addressed the retirement rumors that surfaced after she was spotted wearing a t-shirt with the words “I’m Retired” printed on it. The billionaire business mogul and singer clarified in a recent interview that she is not retiring from music and is, in fact, starting fresh on her highly anticipated ‘R9’ album.
“I’m Not Retired, I’m Just Retired from Dressing Up”
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the launch of Fenty Hair at Nya Studios in Los Angeles, the 36-year-old Barbadian singer explained the misunderstanding surrounding her “I’m Retired” t-shirt. “People got triggered with that retired word,” she said. “They were like ‘We’re never getting an album now.’ No one read the other line, it was something about, ‘This is as dressed up as I get.'”
“That was just me looking into the future. I’m not retired. I just like that dress. I got it as a gift and I loved it,” Rihanna clarified. “They didn’t read the second line, I’m not retired, I’m just retired from dressing up — it’s a lot of effort.”
Rihanna’s Fresh Perspective on R9
The multi-talented artist, who shares two sons with rapper A$AP Rocky, revealed that she’s “starting over” with her music, but doesn’t want to neglect the songs she’s already worked on for R9. “I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective and then see what applies and what I’m still in love with,” she stated.
“I think that music, for me, is a new discovery,” Rihanna explained. “I’m rediscovering things. I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio. I’m gonna start — give me a second!”
Diamond-Certified ‘Diamonds’ Milestone
The update on Rihanna’s music career comes shortly after her 2012 hit single ‘Diamonds’ was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) last week. Reminiscing about the song’s significance, the award-winning singer told ET, “I literally think of her [grandma] every single time I perform that.”
Rihanna’s Navy Rejoices
The news of Rihanna’s return to the studio for R9 has undoubtedly delighted her loyal fans, known as the Navy, who have been eagerly awaiting new music from the superstar since her last album ‘Anti’ was released in 2016.
