Award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson has secured complete ownership of her beauty brand, TPH by Taraji. The star purchased the haircare and skincare line from beauty incubator Maesa for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move gives Henson 100% control over the company she founded in 2020.
“Over the past few months I have been in discussions with my partners at Maesa regarding the future of the TPH by Taraji brand, and am pleased to say we have reached a mutually beneficial agreement,” Henson shared in an email to WWD on April 9, 2025.
Actress Takes Full Control of Inclusive Beauty Brand
The “Hidden Figures” star celebrated the milestone acquisition on Instagram just a day earlier. She expressed gratitude to her supporters and emphasized her excitement about the brand’s future direction.
“THANK YOU to my @tphbytaraji community and to @wwd for breaking the news!! Entering the beauty space as a founder has ALWAYS been about inclusivity. I’m EXCITED for this next chapter of GROWTH. HERE WE GO!!!!” Henson wrote alongside a photo of her WWD feature.
TPH by Taraji was created with a mission to serve all hair types and textures. The inclusive approach has helped the brand build a loyal following since its launch five years ago.
TPH Haircare Journey From Scalp Solutions to Full Beauty Line
Founded in 2020, TPH by Taraji quickly established itself as an innovative player in the beauty industry. The brand initially focused on scalp health products and solutions for different hair types and styles.
Henson has since expanded the product range significantly. TPH now offers comprehensive haircare solutions alongside body care essentials. The line includes skin cleansers, scrubs, and hydrating treatments designed for diverse needs.
“From Day One, our shared vision was to create a brand that celebrates hair and scalp with high-performance products rooted in self care, efficacy and inclusivity,” Henson explained about the brand’s foundation and ongoing mission.
Beauty Industry Supports Henson’s Ownership Milestone
Maesa, the beauty incubator that initially partnered with Henson, expressed support for her acquisition. Scott Kestenbaum, Maesa’s Chief Growth Officer, praised the brand’s development under their five-year collaboration.
“TPH by Taraji has started with the idea of celebrating and redefining scalp and haircare and has grown into an incredible brand with a strong identity and loyal consumer following,” Kestenbaum told WWD in a statement.
He added: “After launching and operating the brand for five successful years, we are thrilled to see Taraji take full ownership of the brand as it enters its next chapter of growth.” This endorsement highlights the positive relationship between Henson and her former partners.
