Actress Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that she and husband Brandon Frankel are expecting twins.
The 40-year-old Precious star shared the news alongside a photo of her baby bump, writing, “We thought it was time to give our cats some responsibility so we’re giving them each a baby to take care of. Double the babies, double the cats, double the fun!!”
The carousel post featured several joyful photos of the expectant couple, including one of them posing behind a double stroller. Sidibe glowed in a pink dress that highlighted her growing belly.
The announcement garnered congratulatory comments from celebrity friends like Octavia Spencer, who called Sidibe “radiant,” and Cheyenne Jackson.
New Additions Complete Sidibe’s Happiness
Sidibe’s pregnancy comes over a year after she revealed that she and Frankel had already secretly tied the knot.
“I don’t like weddings,” she explained on Live with Kelly and Ryan. “Here’s an example of how much I don’t like them: I’m actually married. We got married over a year ago.”
The two first met on a dating app before getting engaged in November 2020. Sidibe later shared that their wedding occurred just four months later “at the kitchen table.”
Tuesday’s post suggests the newly expectant parents are overjoyed to be adding twins to their family. Sidibe was spotted picking out baby registry items alongside her husband at a Los Angeles Babylist event.
Double Trouble for the Couple’s Cats
Sidibe jokingly wrote that she became pregnant “so we could give our cats some responsibility.” The post hints that the couple’s cats may have double trouble headed their way.
