Trailblazing Victory for Representation
In a historic milestone, Sharon Tucker has shattered glass ceilings by becoming Fort Wayne’s first Black mayor and only the second woman to hold the prestigious position.
Her resounding victory at the Democratic caucus marks a significant stride toward greater diversity and inclusion in the city’s leadership.
A Dedicated Public Servant
Tucker’s ascension to the mayorship comes on the heels of her tenure as City Councilwoman for the 6th district, a role she will relinquish to assume her new responsibilities.
Her commitment to public service is deeply ingrained, having previously served as Treasurer and Vice Chair for the Allen County Democratic Party.
“Now you’ve entrusted in me a heavy job, and it doesn’t weigh light on my shoulders,” Tucker said, outlining her priorities while emphasizing economic development both downtown and within neighborhoods.
Championing Economic Growth and Entrepreneurship
With a keen focus on economic development, Tucker has made it a priority to support local entrepreneurs and foster a robust business environment.
Her brainchild, Project Activate SouthEast Fort Wayne (PASE), an entrepreneurial training and pitch competition, exemplifies her dedication to driving economic growth in the city’s southeast region.
A Trailblazer in Her Own Right
Tucker’s accomplishments extend beyond the political arena. She is a graduate of Indiana Tech, holding Bachelor of Science degrees in Management and Human Resources.
Additionally, she is an entrepreneur, running an e-commerce business and a YouTube channel, Classy Shay Designs, dedicated to crafting supplies and custom gifts.
Empowering Women in Politics
As the founder of the ‘Women in Politics Forum,’ an annual event focused on empowering women in political involvement, Tucker has mentored numerous women, fostering their participation in civil engagement and paving the way for future generations of female leaders.
With her historic election, Sharon Tucker has etched her name in Fort Wayne’s history books, inspiring women and underrepresented communities to dream big and shatter barriers.
As she assumes the mantle of mayor, the city eagerly anticipates the positive changes and inclusive leadership she will bring to the table.
