Actress Partners With Brand To Provide Mental Health Resources and Uplift Women
Actress and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson has teamed up with Kate Spade New York on a capsule collection to destigmatize conversations around mental health, especially for women and girls.
The limited-edition collaboration features a t-shirt and necklace, with 100% of profits being donated to the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, which Henson co-founded.
“Our teams connected on a fundamental, human level,” Henson said in a statement about the Kate Spade partnership. “As the rates of isolation and loneliness continue to climb, the collection is meant to serve as a reminder that you are not alone.”
Collection Centers Joy and Wellness
The capsule line includes a white “Joy Is” t-shirt and green agate heart necklace. Pieces seek to highlight the importance of joy and mental well-being for women.
Henson has been focused on accessible mental healthcare since establishing her foundation in 2018. The non-profit provides free therapy for Black communities and works to destigmatize treatment.
The actress initially joined forces with Kate Spade last year by joining the brand’s Social Impact Council. The council features various mental health leaders working to uplift women globally.
Campus Wellness Pods Expand Partnership
In 2023, the foundation and Kate Spade expanded their collaboration by creating wellness pods at Historically Black College and University campuses.
The pods have offered free therapy sessions, yoga, meditation, and more mental health resources for female students. Pods have been established at Alabama State University and Hampton University so far.
“Whether we connect with our sister circles or ourselves, joy is our north star,” said Henson on the ongoing partnership.
The new Boris Lawrence Henson x Kate Spade capsule collection is now available on the Kate Spade website, with all profits continuing vital mental health outreach.
