New mothers in North Carolina now have access to comprehensive postpartum care through a groundbreaking wellness retreat. The Ziva Postpartum Retreat opened its doors on February 1, 2025, in Uptown Charlotte.
Luxury Meets Maternal Care: A Revolutionary Approach
Located inside the Le Meridien Hotel Charlotte, Ziva offers around-the-clock nursery access and expert care. Co-founders Selena Williams and Lauren Hall developed this sanctuary after identifying gaps in postpartum support services.
“It’s been nearly a year of planning and preparation, and we are excited to share this blend of expert support and luxury,” says Williams. Her personal experience as a mother inspired her vision for comprehensive postpartum care.
The retreat provides essential services including lactation consultants, postpartum doula care, and wellness activities. Additional amenities feature meditation classes, yoga sessions, and specialized treatments like postnatal massages.
Breaking Barriers in Maternal Healthcare
Ziva stands as one of only four Black-owned postpartum retreats in the United States. This milestone holds particular significance in North Carolina, which ranks 11th in infant mortality.
The retreat initially planned to open in Charlotte’s SouthPark area. However, overwhelming demand led to its upgraded location in Uptown Charlotte.
Mothers can choose between packages ranging from three to seven nights or more. The founders recommend making reservations after reaching 25 weeks’ gestation.
Comprehensive Support for All New Parents
“We are confident that we will be able to give mothers a space to rest, recover, and be nurtured,” shares co-founder Lauren Hall. The retreat welcomes all postpartum parents, including adoptive and surrogate families.
Daily services include nutritious meals, childcare assistance, and access to postpartum education classes. The retreat has partnered with The Peds MD LLC for on-site pediatric care.
Additional services cover postpartum therapy, belly-binding, and various wellness treatments. The facility follows a model that gained popularity in Europe and Asia before reaching American shores.
