Nigerian medical doctor Dedunmola Oluwo proves that dreams have no limits. She graduated from the University of Debrecen Medical School in Hungary while managing four thriving businesses.
From Accidental Entrepreneur to Medical Success Story
Dr. Oluwo’s entrepreneurial journey began unexpectedly in 2009 with “Hair by Dedun.” What started as braiding a friend’s hair for extra money grew into a successful venture. She later expanded her business portfolio with “Dedun’s Cakes” in 2012.
“My first business, Hair by Dedun, was an accidental accomplishment,” she told Bella Naija. “She paid me, I like the fact that I could do something to bring money in, so I turned it into a business.”
Building an Empire While Pursuing Medicine
The ambitious doctor didn’t stop at two businesses. She launched “Dedun Cooks” after noticing Nigerian students needed convenient meal solutions. Her fourth venture, “Belle Artistry by Dedun,” focuses on beauty services.
“I run four businesses and I am successful at every one of them,” she proudly shared with Punch Newspaper. Her determination shines through each endeavor.
A Mother’s Influence Shapes Success
Behind Dr. Oluwo’s incredible work ethic stands her mother, a retired civil engineer. As the only daughter in a family of four, she witnessed firsthand what true dedication means.
“She was a boss in the field, supervising road constructions; sometimes she got back home as late as 6am,” Oluwo recalled. “She did all of these while her businesses, a farm and textile store, were actively functioning.”
Future Vision in Healthcare Technology
Dr. Oluwo’s ambitions extend beyond her current achievements. She enrolled in an MSc eHealth Management and Telemedicine program to revolutionize rural healthcare in Nigeria through technology.
“Your success solely depends on you but you have to take the first step,” she advised in Women of Rubies. “We were all made for greatness, for success.”
